The BDHR is grateful to receive materials relating to the history of the Bata company, in particular

  • Photos and photo albums, slides and negatives
  • Documents, such as correspondence, memos, records, reports, etc
  • Newspaper and magazine clippings, including advertisements
  • Newsletters, catalogues, booklets and manuals issued by Bata companies
  • Original items issued by or on behalf of Bata companies and bearing the Bata logo*, including shoes and other merchandise, badges, giveaways and packaging
  • Posters and architectural plans
  • Casette and video tapes, film reels (excluding flammable nitrocellulose/nitrate film)
  • Books

* or logos of Bata's in-house brands, such as Power, Bubblegummers, Marie Claire, North Star and Weinbrenner

Scanning and photography guidelines

Please scan or photograph the item/s at the highest resolution/quality available. Note that low-resolution digital files (less than 300 dpi) cannot be used in printed publications.

Scans:
Scans should ideally be saved in TIF or TIFF format; if not available, as JPG/JPEG.
If you are scanning a multi-page document, please try and include the page number in the scan or submit the scanned pages in order.
If you are scanning an album with captions, please include the captions in the scan.
If you are scanning published material, please include a scan showing the name, date, author and title of the publication.

Photographs
Artefacts should ideally be photographed with a solid background.
